Course Description: 42 CFR Part 2 are the federal regulations governing the confidentiality of alcohol and drug abuse patient records. Part I of this course provides a brief introduction and history of 42 CFR Part 2. Part 2 of this course discusses some fundamental concepts and also describes the seven circumstances in which some or all of 42 CFR Part 2 does not apply. Part 3 of this course focuses on statutory sections dealing with the form of written consent; disclosures with consent; disclosures without consent; and re-disclosures. Finally, Part 4 of this course addresses frequently asked questions concerning 42 CFR Part 2.
This course is intended to provide important information regarding Federal Alcohol and Drug Confidentiality Regulations to mental health professionals, social workers, substance abuse professionals, child welfare workers, peer specialists, healthcare professionals, psychologists, or certified addiction specialists.
