Inhalants are volatile substances found in common household products that produce chemical vapors that can be inhaled to induce a psychoactive, or mind-altering, effect.  This Course presents the latest scientific information on inhalant abuse and its harmful effects. Participants will explore the fundamentals and scope of inhalant abuse.  Additionally, Participants will consider the short and long-term effects and other medical consequences of inhalant abuse.  Also, Participants will be able to recognize the signs of inhalant abuse.  Finally, Participants will conclude by learning about the hazards of chemicals found in commonly abused inhalants and the particular risks associated with nitrite abuse.  This course is intended to familiarize mental health professionals, social workers, substance abuse professionals, child welfare workers, healthcare professionals, psychologists, or certified addiction specialists, with current knowledge of inhalant abuse and its harmful effects.

  • To comprehend how inhalants are abused
  • To be aware of how inhalants produce their effects
  • To consider the short and long-term effects of inhalant abuse
