Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) is brain disorder that affects more than 1 million Americans. LBD is associated with abnormal deposits of a protein called alpha-synuclein in the brain.  These deposits, called Lewy bodies, can lead to problems with thinking, movement, behavior and mood. 

Course Objectives:

  • To be familiar with LBD basics
  • To comprehend the two types of LBD: dementia with Lewy bodies and Parkinson’s disease dementia
  • To be aware of LBD causes and risk factors
  • To consider primary and common symptoms of both dementia with Lewy bodies and Parkinson’s disease dementia
  • To explore LBD diagnosis, treatment and management
  • To be familiar with important advice for people living with LBD
  • To understand the role and responsibilities of LBD caregivers
  • To consider predicted areas of LBD research
