The Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling mandates that every applicant for licensure completes 8 hours of continuing education in the area of Laws and Rules in order to obtain their license.   

This Board approved interactive workshop consists of logging into the interactive workshop, passing the online quiz with a minimum of 80% correct, case discussion, and the mandatory course evaluation.  You may log in and off at your leisure and work at your own pace.  We have weekly dedicated chat rooms open to all particpants.

Course Objectives

  • Participants will review the Florida Laws and Rules as it relates to Florida licensure
  • Participants will demonstrate knowledge of the Florida Laws and Rules for licensure
  • Participants will understand his or her professional responsibility in keeping current with the changes to Florida Laws and Rules
  • Participants will able to differentiate between privilege and confidentiality in Florida courts.
  • Participants will familiarize with the dynamics of the Board of CSW, MFT, and MHC
  • Participants will review real-life disciplinary actions before the Board of CSW, MFT, and MHC, through case scenarios
  • Participants will be able to distinguish between the Baker Act and the Marchman Act
  • Participants will identity the limits to confidentiality and their professional responsibility related to mandatory reporting of child/vulnerable adult abuse, abandonment, neglect, and exploitation

HIV AIDS 2 CE

 

Pursuant to section 381.0035(1), F.S., the Department of Children & Families, shall require all employees and clients of facilities licensed under Chapter 397, F.S. to complete a one-time educational course on the modes of transmission, infection control procedures, clinical management, and prevention of human immunodeficiency virus and acquired immune deficiency syndrome with an emphasis on appropriate behavior and attitude change. This course complies with the aforementioned requirement. 

 

HIV/AIDS epidemic is currently a debilitating global health crisis. Part I of this course provides background information and an overview of the HIV infection and AIDS. Part II of this course discusses the ways in which the HIV infection is transmitted. Part III of this course details both the prevention and control of the HIV infection. Part IV of this course addresses the need for attitude and behavior change. Part V of this course considers workplace issues in the realm of policy development. Finally, Part VI of this course explores the various legal issues commonly associated with the HIV infection and AIDS.

  • Learn about the basic information and history of the HIV infection and AIDS epidemic
  • Understand how the HIV infection is transmitted
  • Describe the ways in which the HIV infection can be prevented and controlled
  • Consider the necessary HIV/AIDS attitude and behavior changes
