Course Objectives

 Transgender is an umbrella term that covers a wide variety of gender identities and sexual orientations. As with all segments of the LGBT community, transgender people are increasingly coming out and embracing who they are. And as with any other group of people, many of them will need counseling at some point in their lives. This course is designed to assist mental health professionals in providing transgender patients with necessary treatment while keeping in mind their special needs and the challenges they face. Participants will also receive an overview of scientific theories relating to the development of transgender children, adolescents, and adults.

 Objectives include:

1. Understanding the experiences of transgender clients
2. Learning how to handle sensitive topics and questions without offending clients
3. Providing an overview of the social and legal challenges transgender people face
4. Learning the legal status of transgender people in the US
5. Understanding the special issues facing transgender children and their parents
6. Providing an overview of the science related to transgender people

You will receive a link to  enter our online classroom which provides access to the free course material and online post-test. You must pass with a minimum of 70% correct to obtain a certificate. If you fail the post-test you may retake it without limit.  A certificate will be generated upon successful completion of the course. Upon your written request we will mail you a copy.

If you have purchased the Unlimited CE Package you have up to 6 months to access the course.  In the alternative you have up to 60 days to complete this course from the time of purchase.  If you need an extension please contact us in writing and we will extend the expiration date.
