Description:  This course focuses on addiction as it relates to the use of the various forms of tobacco products. The Participant will understand how and why people become addicted to tobacco from biological and environmental perspectives. Additionally, Participants will learn how tobacco addiction to illegal substances affects those addicted, those around the addicted, and society as a whole. The Course outlines available treatment options and the demographics that may benefit from them.

Course Objectives:

  • To identify the various forms in which tobacco products are sold
  • To  be aware of the social and economic effects of tobacco addiction among Americans
  • To comprehend the effects of tobacco use on the human body
  • To understand what makes tobacco addictive
  • To recognize the importance of scientific research in treating tobacco addiction
  • To be familiar with the treatment techniques and how they are effective
  • To realize the extent to which tobacco affects persons of varying demographics
